Annual Events

Back-to-School Picnic: This event is held during the first week of October and is an opportunity for families and staff to get together and learn more about each other and the children that link their partnership.

Annual Family Meeting: This event is held every November and hosted by the Board of Directors. This is a chance for the Board to inform families and staff about the important work that they are doing to guide Applewood in its growth and encourage active participation by the families.

Family/Teacher Conferences: Families join with teachers at least once per year to discuss their child’s development and growth.

Week of the Young Child: The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the world’s largest early childhood education association, with nearly 90,000 members and a network of over 300 local, state, and regional Affiliates.

The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.

NAEYC first established the Week of the Young Child in 1971, recognizing that the early childhood years (birth through age eight) lay the foundation for children’s success in school and later life. The Week of the Young Child is a time to plan how we–as citizens of a community, of a state, and of a nation–will better meet the needs of all young children and their families.

Applewood celebrates this week with the children and families in our community through a variety of special activities including our annual Art Show, highlighting the aesthetic development of children, and a celebration of Early Childhood Professionals in Concord, NH.
